Christina smith

Position:

Specialist Teacher

Email: enquiries@acornpsychology.co.uk

Christina is an experienced primary school teacher (PGCE), senior leader (NPQLBC) and SENDCO (PGCert NASENCO).
She has dedicated most of her teaching career to supporting pupils with special educational needs, working across the country in Manchester, West Berkshire and Lancashire.
Christina has extensive knowledge of SEND and has an excellent knowledge of the graduated approach. She can knowledgeably support staff and parents/carers in the EHCP process.
Christina has a real passion for embedding nurturing principles in schools and exploring the relationship between special educational needs and behaviour. This interest most recently led to Christina completing the National Professional Qualification in Leading Behaviour and Culture and writing and implementing a behaviour curriculum for her school.
As an experienced senior leader, Christina has led staff training and worked at a strategic level, developing whole school policies, to positively impact learners with SEND. She has led teams of teaching assistants and worked collaboratively with other professionals, to ensure progress and good outcomes for all children.
Christina can offer support in all SENDCo related duties; specialist teacher work; staff training and coaching; support to review and improve behaviour policies and systems and support to implement practical advice and strategies, as part of the graduated approach.

My Job

I work with children and young people who might be finding school a bit tricky.

I want to find out what you are good at and what you find difficult so I might observe you in class and speak with you. I will also chat to the adults in your life so I can get to know you really well.

I will use this information, to support you, your parents/carers and teachers so you can be supported and succeed in school.

My job is called a Specialist Teacher but you can call me Christina.

What we might do together

When we meet, I will introduce myself and explain what we will do together.

We will probably chat about what you like and dislike; what you are good at and what you find difficult. We might also play some games, do some drawing, questionnaires or tests together.

What happens if you don’t want to work with me

If you don’t want to meet me, or do any work, you don’t have to. We will only meet if you want to and do as much as you are happy to.

If you have any questions, you can ask me or an adult in school.
