Meet Joanne Mayor
Find out more about Joanne in her pen portrait below. Contact us if you have any questions about our team and/or the services we provide.
Jo has completed her National SENCo award and was SENCo in a high school in Preston for 5 years, where the number of SEN students was high. The school gained a reputation for being very inclusive and Jo led a large learning support team and worked with many external professionals.
In recent months, Jo has worked for the Inclusion, Engagement and Support Team in Lancashire, supporting students and schools to help students with SEN who are struggling in school, showing challenging behaviour and facing suspension or exclusion.
Jo carries out specialist teacher work in a range of our schools and is able to support SENCos with their role.

My Job
I work with children and young people to find out what they are good at and what they find hard.
I use this information to work with all the adults in their lives to think of ways to help them get even better at things they are good at and to make things they find hard easier.
My job is called Specialist Teacher, but you can just call me Jo.
What we might do together
When I come to meet you, I will introduce myself and tell you what we might do together.
This might be a chat about you, what is important to you, what you like and don’t like. We might also play some games, do some drawing or fun tasks together.
What happens if you don’t want to work with me
If you don’t want to meet me or do any work with me, you don’t have to. We will only meet if you want to and do as much as you are happy to.
If you have any questions, you can ask me or an adult in school
