Find out more about Steph in her pen portrait below. Contact us if you have any questions about our team and/or the services we provide.
Steph has worked as a Teacher in a range of different Primary Schools in the Lancaster and Morecambe area. She has taught across all primary school classes and has led a variety of subject areas including English. She has also led nurture classes and small group special needs classes over her teaching career. Over the past six years, Steph has worked as a full-time SENDCo in a large Primary School in Morecambe. This has included leading and managing an Inclusion Team comprising 4 learning mentors and directing and managing the work of a number of external professionals including Specialist teachers, Educational Psychologists, Counsellors and Speech and Language Therapists. Steph has a wealth of experience supporting children with a range of additional needs. She has completed her National SENCo award and has more recently her Post Graduate Certificate in the assessment and teaching of young people with specific literacy difficulties and dyslexia. This qualification allows Steph to assess for and diagnose dyslexia and to assess and recommend exam access arrangements.
Steph carries out specialist teacher work in a range of our schools, as well as carrying out diagnostic dyslexia assessments and supporting children with specific literacy difficulties through 1:1 or small group intervention. She is also able to support SENDCo’s with the role.

My Job
I work with children and young people to find out what they are good at and what they find hard.
I use this information to work with all of the adults in their lives to think of ways to help them get even better at things they are good at and to make things they find hard easier.
My job is as a Specialist teacher, but you can just call me Steph.
What we might do together
When I come to meet you, I will introduce myself and tell you what we might do together.
This might be a chat about you, what is important to you, what you like and don’t like. We might also play some games, do some drawing, questionnaires or tests together.
What happens if you don’t want to work with me
If you don’t want to meet me or do any work, you don’t have to. We will only meet if you want to and do as much as you are happy to.
If you have any questions, you can ask me or an adult in school.
