Socially Speaking Learning Presentation

Socially Speaking – Delivering a Year-Long Social Skills Programme in School

Socially Speaking is a structured, evidence-informed social skills programme designed to support children in developing the communication and interaction skills they need to build positive relationships and thrive both in and out of school.

Spanning a full academic year, the programme is divided into three progressive units: Let’s Communicate, Let’s Be Friends, and Let’s Practise. As pupils work through each stage, they are guided in developing their listening skills, expressive language, self-esteem, and confidence in social situations.

This training session introduces the structure and content of the Socially Speaking programme, as well as practical guidance on how to implement it in your setting.

✅ What you’ll learn:

  • How the Socially Speaking programme supports communication and interaction

  • An overview of each of the three units and how they build social competence over time

  • Tips for delivering the programme effectively within the school day

  • Expected outcomes and benefits for pupils, including improved relationships, increased self-awareness, and greater independence

Ideal for SENCos, teachers, and support staff looking to build or strengthen social skills provision for pupils with communication and interaction needs.
