Self Harm Awareness- Learning Presentation
Self-Harm Awareness – An Informative Guide for School Staff
Self-harm is a complex and sensitive issue, often used as a private coping strategy by individuals experiencing distress. Many who self-harm experience feelings of shame or guilt, which can make it difficult for them to seek support.
This training is designed as an informative guide for school staff, helping to build awareness, understanding, and confidence when responding appropriately to concerns. It does not provide intervention strategies but instead focuses on recognising signs, understanding the context, and knowing when and how to refer to appropriate safeguarding channels.
⚠️ Important: This course is for awareness only. You should not attempt to employ any self-harm interventions or strategies unless you are a qualified professional. Staff must always follow safeguarding procedures and never deal with disclosures alone.
